City Island 5 Guide To Basics⇓
There are three types of building in the game; for residents(houses, apartments etc.), for employees(cafe, bank, bakery, and more), essential(police station, fire department, post office, and more), and at last, decorative.
- Building & upgrading resident type buildings bring new residents to the city Island
- Building & upgrading employee type buildings provide jobs to the residents and increase employment in the city + you make money
- Essential buildings such as post office, police station, college, aquarium, and more increases the happiness
- Decorative building boosts the happiness
City Island 5 Guide To Happiness, Residents, And Job Status⇓
At the top-right corner, you can check the current status; happiness level, number of residents, and how many have jobs.
- If the residents are unhappy, then they might leave the city
- If you lose the residents, there would be a drop in employment
- Drop in employment indirectly impacts the income
- Less income will result in slow progress
So it’s necessary to keep the residents happy in City Island 5 game. You can increase their happiness level by building and upgrading essential buildings(police station, fire department, and more)+build decorative buildings.
Building Output In City Island 5 Game⇓
Each building contributes to the city growth. Tapping the building will give you the overview.
- Commercial buildings are the main source of income and stars(XP, to level up)
- Decorative and essential buildings are the main source of happiness

Gold Coins, Cash, And Keys⇓
- Gold is one of the premium in-game items in City Island 5. You can get it by completing the quests, from the chests
- Cash or money in City Island 5 can be obtained from the vehicles, commercial buildings, completing the quests, chests
- There are two types of keys in City Island 5; silver and golden. You can use these keys to buy the chests. Buildings. Keys can be obtained by completing the daily quests, star missions, from vehicles, currency exchange.
Buying Plots In City Island 5⇓
In order to build more buildings, you will have to buy more plots. Buying the plots will cost you a huge amount of cash. Tapping the signboard in the forest side will give you the option to buy the plot of land.
Exploring New Islands⇓
At the edge of the Island, tap the airship to visit the world section of the game. There you will see more Islands. Tapping the island will give you two options; (i) icon and lock icon. Tap the (i) icon to get an overview of the Island. Tap the lock icon -> pay the amount to explore.
Once discovered, you will be able to start the construction there. Tapping the unlocked Island will give you three options; (i), get In(arrow), Airship. Tap the arrow icon to visit that Island. Tap the airship icon to send airship there.
Leveling Up Guide & Tips⇓
To unlock new buildings(you always have the option to buy any building using gold, but to purchase it with cash, you must unlock it by leveling up), it’s important to level up. You need stars to increase the level and get access to more beautiful structures.
- You can obtain stars from the commercial buildings(tap the building -> profit)
- Vehicles – Tap the vehicle when they show star icon
- Completing the quests, star missions
- By constructing new buildings
How To Customize? -> Move, Destroy, Pack-Up, Hide?
- Moving – Long press the building and drag it where you want to move
- Destroy – Tap the building -> tap the bomb icon on the left side
- Pack-Up – To send a building to the storage -> tap that building -> tap the box icon on the left side
- Restore – Tap the box icon on the bottom-right corner -> tap the place button
- Hide – Check the circle next to magnifying glass on the right side of the screen. This will hide the buildings and let you build roads easily
Spinning The Wheel – Roulette Coins
At the bottom-right side, you have the option to spin the wheel using roulette points. You get these points from the chest. When you buy a new plot, there would be some chests. Tapping the chest will give you these points. Spending these points on fortune spinner could yield you gold keys, silver keys, stars, cash.

1.) Spend The Keys Wisely ⇓
You can spend the keys either on the buildings or chests. Tapping the key icon at the bottom-left side will show you the deals. The purchased building will be sent to the storage(box). Additionally, you can use these keys to open the premium chests; silver chest, golden chest, and platinum chests.
2.) Don’t Use The Time Lapse Cheat⇓
Yeah! If you don’t want to screw up everything, then don’t use this cheat. It works, but you will screw up everything. What is it? Using the time-lapse cheat in City Island 5, you can skip the upgrade or construction time, refresh the quests instantly, get the daily reward instantly, and free treasure chests.
In this time-lapse cheat, the player changes the mobile time and forwards everything. This cheat works in City Island 5. But we would strongly recommend you to ignore it and play in a legit way. The reason is if you use this cheat, you will have to play according to that time. For example; you skipped 24 hours for instant upgrades, quests, daily chest. After it, you change the time back to normal and entered the game. You will find a long-queue in updates; quests, daily treasure, and more.
If you really want to use this cheat, then you’ll have to change the time every time you enter the game. It will ruin the gaming experience. So say no to it.
3.) Upgrade The Buildings In A Balanced Way⇓
The two important things you have to take care of in the City Island 5 game is income source and happiness level. Upgrade the commercial buildings to get more profit + upgrade the city-buildings(police station, fire department, etc.) to increase happiness. After it, take care of the rest two aspects; resident and employment. No one wants free time. All the residents want the job.

On the left side of the screen, tap the quest icon and work accordingly to progress fast. You get a huge amount of reward including keys, cash, gold, and stars by completing these daily missions.
5.) Collect Once You Are Done⇓
If you have completed all the quests and since these quests get refreshed after a certain amount of time, to kill the time, pay attention to the vehicles. You’ll often see an icon above these vehicles; keys, cash, advice, stars, and more. Collect these items.
6.) Don’t Rush, Unlock First⇓
As we mentioned above, In the leveling up guide, the game allows you to build any building using the gold coins. But the right way is to build the facility using cash. When you level up, the game will unlock more buildings and let you build by spending cash instead of gold coins. So don’t rush. Additionally, city advisor will also force you. Ignore the advises, forcing you to spend gold in normal buildings.

One thing I’d recommend, is to deploy every Community building that you can buy with cash (NOT GOLD, just common cash). If you need more Happiness, then you at least have the “footprint” for those buildings, and you won’t have to scramble for space.
At the same time, for Residential and Commercial, I find it’s better to have fewer buildings, that you upgrade to the max. Making those upgrades, get you keys; keys get you chests; chests get you buildings, and some of those reward buildings can be surprisingly powerful.
For land plots and new islands, unlock whatever is cheapest, even if you don’t think you need it yet. Note the discovery costs for all undiscovered islands BEFORE you move the airship: sometimes the best move, will be to unlock a new island, and then immediately send the airship back to the last island, to stage for a cheaper island than what you can reach from the new island.
Upgrading buildings with Gold, awards a flat 8 gold keys, per gold spent. That can sometimes help, if you’re just a few keys short of earning a Diamond chest. Silver key efficiency depends on build time, and that’s something you’ll intuit with enough time in game.
The game is playable on a shoestring; you just have to be patient in the early stages. And NEVER buy Gold chests: save up your gold keys, and get Diamond chests. You’ll get a permanent crane and a Purple building in a Diamond chest, and both of those are worth the wait.

There are some buildings I can buy with keys at the bottom left but they don’t let me see how much profit they give. Is there any site to see a list of commercial buildings? It’s unfair to spend lots of keys and the profit will be 1.000 coins for example.

Pet shops and car exhibitions are worth the price. The rest (that I’m aware of) except for balloon stores, electronic devices stores and the sports equipments stores are just tricking you into buying them. If you search ‘City Island 5 Wiki’ online, there is one Wiki that actually includes all buildings (except for the rare ones, but it does include the cake shops) in Japanese, and all you have to do is to translate the words above into your language, just like what I’ve done.

The pink keys are for buying the diamond chest that’s all I know.
Click on the construction tab on the lower left, then on the chest. This will bring up the keys you have on hand. That will show on the upper left below a few other tabs. The pink or “diamond” keys are to buy things but can be converted to gold coins. I checked and the banks payout the best for any key to key or key to gold coin conversion. So I convert keys when I will not be online. It takes about 10 hours for key to key and about 15 hours to convert diamond keys to gold coins. I hope this helps.

You need to collect as many pinkish coloured keys to have the ultimate bulidings.But it’s very costly since you need 1699 pinkish coloured keys to open it(and it’s so very hard to get it,you can only can it in gold chest or some sorts of event).If you have 1699+,you can buy and get greater rewards then the golden and sliver chest

When will there be more islands available or at least more expansions. I have bought up all grass and water areas as well as almost all of the rock, sand and mud areas. I have over 150 houses, businesses and community places that need places to be place. This is very discouraging. I have put tons of time and money into this game and feel that there needs to be some additions made and asap. I do not use cheats or any of that other stuff that people talk about. I earn or buy with my own cash the coins and money to build and purchase land and items. When will there be new islands available to us? I feel that as many people that play this game and all the money that we all spend that you need to keep up for us to keep interested. There needs to be more of the snow islands, water space to buy up and more grass, sand and mud areas. I have of your games that I have downloaded and play all the time but this has been my favorite up until now. I would like to see some islands added that have the 4 season changing on them with new items that can be placed on them that will work for a 4 seasonal change. Maybe even underwater worlds for us to have and build things in. That would be awesome. With some kind of submarine that goes from land to below the water or maybe even an outer space area that we can build like rocket platforms on land and have an area where they fly to. Just like with the trading ship. That would be cool and bring a whole new level to the game. Just some ideas. I really enjoy this game and so do my kids. But at this point all the hundreds of hours and hundreds of dollars spent are going to be for nothing since there are no new islands and no more new island expansions. Please please update and add things for us all to be able enjoy more game time.

This is so strange. I was playing this game over the weekend and had 890 gold keys on Saturday evening. On Sunday morning I noticed my gold keys went down to 240 and I had a small island in my storage. Also I can’t seem to get past day 5 now. I arrived at say 6 once and that was the closest to 7 days i’ve gotten. I don’t get it. Does anyone know a fix for that?
I found a way to use the time lapse without causing any problems. You first change the time On your mobile device i.e. one day ahead, then go back into the game and open up each island that you have access to without touching any of the new keys earned or dollars earned. Once you have finished opening all the islands and updating the game according to the new time, then go back into your mobile device and change the time back to today’s time and date. This will not mess up any time lapse and you can proceed as normal. The key is not tapping On any of the buildings and collecting any new cash or keys or coins from them until you’ve gone back and changed the time to the current time and date.
